Top strut mount
Repair kit, suspension strut
Anti-Friction Bearing, suspension strut support mounting
Replacement: strut mount – FORD FUSION (JU_). AUTODOC recommends:
The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the left and right shock struts of the front suspension.
All mounts of the front shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
Be sure to replace all self-locking nuts and bolts during installation.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: strut mount – FORD FUSION (JU_). Take the following steps:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Replacement: strut mount – FORD FUSION (JU_). Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a combination spanner #15. Use HEX No.H6. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Remove the stabilizer rod.
Step 9
Take out the retainer clip and move the brake hose out of the bracket on the shock strut. Use a flat screwdriver. Use pliers.
Step 10
Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11
Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12
Remove the fastening bolt. Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut. Use a hammer.
Step 13
Lower the car. Open the bonnet.
Step 14
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 15
Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 16
Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount. Use a combination spanner #13.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FORD FUSION (JU_)
Step 17
Remove the suspension strut.
Step 18
Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.
Replacement: strut mount – FORD FUSION (JU_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
Step 19
Compress the spring.
Step 20
Remove the shock strut mount cap.
Step 21
Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 22
Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H6. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 23
Remove the top mount of the shock absorber strut together with the mount bearing. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 24
Remove the top strut mount.
Step 25
Install a new shock absorber strut mount into the mount bearing.
Step 26
Install the upper strut mount and the strut mount bearing. Use a crowbar.
Step 27
Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 48 Nm torque.
Replacement: strut mount – FORD FUSION (JU_). Tip from AUTODOC:
Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.
Step 28
Treat the shock strut rod. Use copper grease.
Step 29
Install the shock strut mount cap.
Step 30
Decompress the spring.
Step 31
Remove the assembled shock strut.
Step 32
Install the shock strut into the wheel arch.
Step 33
Screw the top fastening of the shock strut mount.
Step 34
Tighten the upper fastener of the shock absorber strut mount. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 30 Nm torque.
Step 35
Treat the fasteners of the shock strut mount. Use copper grease.
Step 36
Remove the fender protection cover. Close the hood.
Step 37
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 38
Clean the mounting seats of the shock strut. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 39
Fix the shock absorber strut on the steering knuckle. Use a hammer. Use a crowbar.
Step 40
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 41
Install the fastening bolt.
Step 42
Tighten the lower fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 Nm torque.
Step 43
Treat the shock strut fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 44
Fasten the brake hose on the strut.
Step 45
Attach the brake hose retainer clip. Use a hammer.
Step 46
Ιnstall the transverse stabilizer link.
Step 47
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a combination spanner #15. Use HEX No.H6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 48 Nm torque.
Step 48
Remove the support from under the arm.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – FORD FUSION (JU_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 49
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 50
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
Replacement: strut mount – FORD FUSION (JU_). Professionals recommend:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 51
Install the wheel.

Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. FORD FUSION (JU_)
Step 52
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 53
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 95 nm torque.
Step 54
Remove the jacks and chocks.
