Replacement: front lower arm – PEUGEOT 307 Break (3E). AUTODOC recommends:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – PEUGEOT 307 Break (3E). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: front lower arm – PEUGEOT 307 Break (3E). Tip from AUTODOC experts:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the CV axle nut cotter pin. Use a wire brush.
- Step 7Remove the CV axle nut cotter pin. Use a pin punch.
- Step 8Clean the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 9Loosen the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a drive socket #36. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 11Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #21. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 12Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 13Prop up the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 14Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm. Use a crowbar.
- Step 15Remove the support from under the steering knuckle.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: front lower arm – PEUGEOT 307 Break (3E). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
- Step 16Detach the driveshaft from the steering knuckle.Replacement: front lower arm – PEUGEOT 307 Break (3E). Tip from AUTODOC:Make sure that the drive shaft is not unloaded (when the car is jacked).
- Step 17Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use Torx T50. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 18Remove the front fastener of the control arm. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer.
- Step 19Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use Torx T50. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 20Remove the rear fastener of the control arm.
- Step 21Remove the arm. Use a crowbar.
- Step 22Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 23Install a new arm.Replacement: front lower arm – PEUGEOT 307 Break (3E). Professionals recommend:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 24Install the control arm fasteners.
- Step 25Screw the front arm fastener. Use Torx T50. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 26Screw the rear arm fastener. Use Torx T50. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 27Tighten the front fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 111 Nm torque.
- Step 28Tighten the rear fastener connecting the arm to the body subframe. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 111 Nm torque.
- Step 29Clean the splines of the drive shaft CV joint. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 30Install the drive shaft.
- Step 31Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
