Replacement: ball joint – VW Sharan Kastenwagen (7M). Tip from AUTODOC:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right ball joints.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Please note: all work on the car – VW Sharan Kastenwagen (7M) – should be done with the engine switched off.
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 3Raise the car.Replacement: ball joint – VW Sharan Kastenwagen (7M). AUTODOC experts recommend:If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW Sharan Kastenwagen (7M) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the ball joint fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Disconnect the ball joint from the control arm. Use a ball joint puller. - Step 9
Unscrew the ball joint fasteners from the steering knuckle. Use HEX No.H8. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 10
Remove the fastening bolts. - Step 11
Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Use a crowbar. - Step 12
Remove the ball joint. - Step 13
Clean the ball joint mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 14
Install a new ball joint.Replacement: ball joint – VW Sharan Kastenwagen (7M). Tip from AUTODOC:Do not damage the ball joint cover.
