All the work should be carried out with the engine cooled down and ignition switched off.

Replacement: engine thermostat – FORD TOURNEO CUSTOM Bus. Take the following steps:

Step 1

Open the bonnet.

Step 2

Use a fender protection cover to avoid damaging the paintwork and plastic parts of the car.

Step 3

Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap.
Step 4

Lift the vehicle using a vehicle lift or place it over an inspection pit.

Step 5

Prepare a fluid drain pan.
Step 6

Unscrew the coolant drain plug. Use a slotted screwdriver.
Step 7

Drain the coolant.

Replacement: engine thermostat – FORD TOURNEO CUSTOM Bus. AUTODOC recommends:
Wait until the coolant has completely flowed out of the drain hole.
Step 8

Screw in the coolant drain plug. Use a slotted screwdriver.
Step 9

Loosen the coolant hose clamp. Use hose clamp pliers.
Step 10

Detach the coolant hose and plug it with a paper towel.
Step 11

Clean the fasteners of the thermostat housing cover. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 12

Unscrew the fasteners of the thermostat housing cover. Use a T25 Torx bit. Use a U-joint socket extension. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 14

Remove the thermostat housing cover.
Step 15

Remove the thermostat.
Step 16

Clean the mounting seat of the thermostat housing cover. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 17

Install a new thermostat.
Step 18

Install the thermostat housing cover.
Step 19

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 20

Tighten the fasteners of the thermostat housing cover. Use a T30 Torx bit. Use a U-joint socket extension. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 10 N·m.
Step 21

Remove the towel from the coolant hose and reattach it. Use hose clamp pliers.
Step 22

Remove the coolant reservoir cap.
Step 23

Insert the funnel.
Step 24

Pour coolant into the reservoir.

Warning!
Only use the coolant recommended by the manufacturer.The coolant level should be at the MAX mark on the reservoir.Wait until the air goes out of the system.
Step 25

Put the coolant reservoir cap back on and tighten it.

Step 26

Run the engine for a few minutes. This should be done in order to remove residual air from the cooling system and to check that the components are operating correctly and there are no leaks.

Step 27

Shut off the engine and let it cool down.

Step 28

Top up the coolant to the MAX mark without exceeding it.

Step 29

Remove the fender cover.

Step 30

Close the bonnet.
