Replacement: engine thermostat – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Take the following steps:

Step 1

Open the bonnet.
Step 2

Remove the engine cover.

Step 3

Unscrew the radiator grille fastener.
Step 4

Remove the radiator grille.
Step 5

Remove the retainers of the right headlight.
Step 6

Remove the right headlight.
Step 7

Detach the connector of the right headlight.
Step 8

Unscrew the fastener of the power steering pipe bracket. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9

Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap.
Step 10

Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.
Step 11

Prepare a container for fluids.
Step 12

Clean the coolant drain plug. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 13

Unscrew the coolant drain plug. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 14

Drain the coolant from the engine.

Replacement: engine thermostat – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Professionals recommend:
Caution! The coolant can be very hot.Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.All work should be done with the engine stopped.Wait until the coolant has completely flowed out of the drain hole.
Step 15

Screw in the coolant drain plug. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 16

Lower the car.
Step 17

Loosen the clamps of the coolant hoses. Use clic-R collar pliers.
Step 18

Detach the clamps of the coolant hoses.
Step 19

Disconnect the coolant hoses from the thermostat housing.
Step 20

Clean the thermostat housing. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 21

Unscrew the thermostat housing fasteners. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 22

Remove the thermostat housing together with the thermostat.

Replacement: engine thermostat – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Tip from AUTODOC:
Do not apply excessive force when removing the part. Otherwise you may damage it.
Step 23

Clean the mounting seats of the thermostat housing. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. Use a seal scraper.
Step 24

Clean the thermostat housing. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 25

Treat the thermostat housing. Use a sealant.
Step 26

Install the new thermostat housing together with the thermostat.
Step 27

Tighten the thermostat housing fasteners. Use a drive socket #8. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 6 Nm torque.
Step 28

Connect the coolant hoses to the thermostat housing.
Step 29

Attach the clamps of the coolant hoses. Use clic-R collar pliers.
Step 30

Screw on the fastener of the power steering pipe bracket.
Step 31

Treat the connector of the right headlight. Use dielectric grease.
Step 32

Attach the connector of the right headlight.
Step 33

Install the right headlight.
Step 34

Install the retainers of the right headlight.
Step 35

Install the radiator grille.
Step 36

Screw in the fastener of the radiator grille.
Step 37

Remove the coolant reservoir cap.
Step 38

Insert the funnel.
Step 39

Pour coolant in the coolant reservoir.

Replacement: engine thermostat – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. AUTODOC recommends:
Only use the coolant recommended by the manufacturer.The coolant level should be at the MAX mark.Wait until the air goes out of the system.
Step 40

Run the engine for a few minutes. This should be done in order to remove residual air from the cooling system and to check if the components are operating correctly.

Shut off the engine.

Step 42

Check the coolant level. If necessary, top up to the required level.

Step 43

Install the coolant reservoir cap.

Step 44

Screw on the coolant reservoir cap.
Step 45

Install the engine cover and secure it.

Close the hood.
