- Step 1
Open the bonnet. - Step 2
Remove the engine cover.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: engine thermostat – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it. - Step 3
Unscrew the radiator grille fastener. - Step 4
Remove the radiator grille. - Step 5
Remove the retainers of the right headlight. - Step 6
Remove the right headlight. - Step 7
Detach the connector of the right headlight. - Step 8
Unscrew the fastener of the power steering pipe bracket. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 9
Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap. - Step 10
Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit. - Step 11
Prepare a container for fluids. - Step 12
Clean the coolant drain plug. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 13
Unscrew the coolant drain plug. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 14
Drain the coolant from the engine.Replacement: engine thermostat – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Professionals recommend:Caution! The coolant can be very hot.Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.All work should be done with the engine stopped.Wait until the coolant has completely flowed out of the drain hole. - Step 15
Screw in the coolant drain plug. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 16
Lower the car. - Step 17
Loosen the clamps of the coolant hoses. Use clic-R collar pliers. - Step 18
Detach the clamps of the coolant hoses. - Step 19
Disconnect the coolant hoses from the thermostat housing. - Step 20
Clean the thermostat housing. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 21
Unscrew the thermostat housing fasteners. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 22
Remove the thermostat housing together with the thermostat.Replacement: engine thermostat – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Tip from AUTODOC:Do not apply excessive force when removing the part. Otherwise you may damage it. - Step 23
Clean the mounting seats of the thermostat housing. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. Use a seal scraper. - Step 24
Clean the thermostat housing. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 25
Treat the thermostat housing. Use a sealant. - Step 26
Install the new thermostat housing together with the thermostat. - Step 27
Tighten the thermostat housing fasteners. Use a drive socket #8. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 6 Nm torque.
