Replacement: engine oil and filter – SKODA Octavia I Kasten / Kombi (1U5). Tip from AUTODOC:
- Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
- Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
- Please note: all work on the car – SKODA Octavia I Kasten / Kombi (1U5) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Unscrew the oil filler plug.
- Step 4Pull up the oil dipstick.
- Step 5Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 6Unscrew the filter housing cap together with the old filter element. Use the 76-14F socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 7Take the oil filter out of its housing.
- Step 8Put the old oil filter in the container.
- Step 9Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.Replacement: engine oil and filter – SKODA Octavia I Kasten / Kombi (1U5). AUTODOC recommends:The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.Step 10Put a waste oil container with at least 5 l capacity under the drainage hole.
- Step 11Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 12Unscrew the drain plug. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Drain the used oil.Replacement: engine oil and filter – SKODA Octavia I Kasten / Kombi (1U5). Tip:Caution! The oil may be hot.
- Step 14Remove old o-rings from the oil filter cover. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 15Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 16Install new O-rings and a new oil filter to their mounting seats on the filter cover.Please note!Make sure to install the filter correctly. Don't mix up the sides of the part.Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.
- Step 17Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 18Screw in the new drainage plug and tighten it. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 28 Nm torque.
- Step 19Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
