Replacement: brake drum – VW GOLF I Cabriolet (155). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Replace the brake drums on VW GOLF I Cabriolet (155) in pair for the rear axle. Disregarding the parts state. It ensures even braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left brake drums on the same axle.
- When replacing the brake drums, be sure to also change the brake shoes.
- Please note: all work on the car – VW GOLF I Cabriolet (155) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW GOLF I Cabriolet (155) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Remove the wheel hub nut cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer. - Step 7
Remove the cotter pin securing the hub nut. Use a crowbar. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 8
Unscrew the hub nut. Use a drive socket #30. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 9
Remove the fastening nut. - Step 10
Remove the brake drum assembled with the wheel hub bearing. - Step 11
Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 12
Install the new brake drum assembled with the wheel hub bearing.
