Hi. I have 15plate 2008. Bought it about 2 weeks ago. Now noticed a kind of rubber squeaking noise from suspension every time i go over sleeping policemen.
really getting annoying now. Iv used penetrating oil on all rubber bushes on the suspension but made no difference. Any ideas? Tia

I would recommend contacting the service for a more correct determination of the malfunction.

Mate I had the exact same thing with my old Fiesta few months back! Drove me mental. Turned out to be the anti-roll bar drop links - they were knackered and making that rubber squeak sound

@user_121282 Check your lower control arm bushings mate, they're usually the culprit on these. My neighbor had identical problem on his 2008 and swapping those sorted it right out

penetrating oil wont do much tbh, rubber bushings need proper silicone grease to work properly. Had this issue on my Megane last year, used silicone spray directly on the bushings and let it soak overnight - noise disappeared for good few months

@user_121282 Could also be ball joints losing lubrication, especially if cars been sitting around before you bought it. Mine started squeaking after I got it from previous owner who barely drove it, sorted itself after few weeks of regular driving somehow

Nah mate dont waste your time with sprays and all that. Just get under there with a torch and check which bushing is actually cracked or perished. Mine looked fine but one of the rear trailing arm bushings was split right through - replaced it for like 15 quid and jobs done

I reckon its defo the front drop links or the bushings on them. Super common fault on the 2008s from that era, my mate's one did exactly the same, every bloody speed bump sounded like a mouse convention under there 😂

@Thaverom While garage visit might help diagnose it, not always necessary for simple bush squeak mate. @user_121282 try getting some rubber rejuvenator spray from Halfords first, worked wonders on my Astra's suspension, been quiet for months now and only cost me a tenner

@michael_brown7 spot on about checking for cracks first. I wasted weeks spraying stuff on mine before actually looking properly - turned out the top strut mount rubber was completely split, no amount of lube was gonna fix that one lol

@user_121282 15 plate should still have decent bushes unless previous owner thrashed it over rough roads constantly. I'd be looking at the spring seats or insulators first before replacing anything major, sometimes they just need repositioning

@simon_lewis_5 yeah control arms are deffo worth checking, but drop links are easier to test - just grab them and see if theres any play while someone rocks the car. If they move about they're toast

@harry.wilson.77 Good shout on the spring seats actually, forgot about those. My dad's Qashqai had squeaky springs rubbing on the insulators, sounded exactly like rubber squeaking, drove him nuts til mechanic spotted it during MOT
