I need to change the lower control arms on my car. I know how to do the job but I can’t find the torque settings for the main bolts  or for the ball joint. Can anyone help

I changed mine last year mate, the ball joint goes to 230 Nm but for the main control arm bolts I used around 110-120 Nm and it's been solid ever since. Just make sure you tighten everything with the suspension loaded (wheels on ground or jack under the arm).

@D. D. 230Nm for the ball joint is correct, my mechanic friend told me that when I did mine. For the frame bolts, I think it was somewhere between 100-130Nm but don't quote me on that exactly

Make sure you use threadlock on the ball joint bolt after torquing! Mine came loose after 2 months because I forgot that step 😅

@o_turing Really? I never used threadlock on mine, been fine for 18 months now. Maybe your torque wrench wasn't calibrated properly?

I did this job on my 3008 last spring - the ball joint definitely 230Nm as others said. The two horizontal bolts that go into the subframe, I tightened them to about 105Nm each, found that spec in a French forum after ages of searching

@D. D. tighten the subframe bolts when the car is at normal ride height, not when its jacked up. Otherwise the bushings get twisted and wear out faster. Learned that the hard way on my old 308

@e_howard 105Nm sounds about right, I used similar on mine. Also don't forget to get a wheel alignment done afterwards or your tyres will wear unevenly

Had the same problem finding specs for my 3008! Ended up calling a mate who works at a garage, he said most lower arm bolts on Peugeots are around 110Nm for M12 bolts. Ball joint is definitely 230Nm though, that one's critical

@GeorgeYo +1 on that advice, made that mistake on my first attempt years ago on a different car. Bushings were shot within 6 months

Just did this job 3 weeks ago actually. Ball joint 230Nm confirmed, for the arm-to-subframe I went with 115Nm and checked them after 50km of driving, still tight. Don't overtighten or you'll strip the threads in the subframe which is a nightmare to fix
