I had deer hit the nearside bumper (and escape alive) during a pre dawn run at 30mph. This has dislodged the fog light assembly and the indicator has stopped working.

It maybe that the assembly has just become dislodged and needs reconnecting and fixing. However, I am not sure how to access the assembly. It appears impossible from the hood. Possible from the wheel arch but I cannot see any obvious door there.

Turn your wheel full lock away from the side you're working on - so full right for nearside. You'll see plastic clips holding the wheel arch liner, pop a few off near the front and pull it back gently. The fog light should be right there behind it, usually held with 2-3 screws or clips. Can get your hand in the gap and work by feel if needed

@Ethan_Scott yeah that's spot on. Had similar when my missus clipped a post last year, knocked the whole assembly loose. Check the wiring connector first before buying anything - nine times out of ten it's just come unplugged from the impact. Saved me £80 on a new unit!

The indicator not working is probably just the connector mate. Those clips are surprisingly fragile, any bump can shake them loose

@user_61421 Poor deer though lol. But seriously, definitely check behind wheel arch liner. Some cars have a little access hatch specifically for bulb changes, but if the whole assembly moved you might need to pull more clips back

@r.lewis Good shout about checking connector. Also @user_61421 when you get it apart make sure the mounting bracket hasnt cracked, had that happen on mine after similar incident and light kept vibrating loose afterwards

Wheel full lock, remove 5-7 clips from front section of arch liner, fold it back towards rear of car. Dead simple once you know where to look but feels impossible at first haha

@user_61421 The indicator issue could also be damaged wiring in the harness if it got pinched during impact. Worth having a proper look when you're in there, not just the main connector

@James Wilson Mounting brackets are nightmare when they crack, you're right. @user_61421 if everythings just loose and wiring intact you might get lucky and just need to clip it back in properly with maybe one or two new plastic tabs

Had exact same thing with a badger believe it or not. Wheel arch access sorted it, connector had just popped off. Took longer finding which clips to remove than actual fix

@CharlieDavies Badgers are mental, proper solid. Deer at 30mph though should be alright for the bumper, mostly plastic damage hopefully
