Surely it is easy enough just to look underneath!

You're right mate, on Boxer the rear caliper bolts have internal hex sockets - usually 7mm Allen key. Not external bolt heads.

@user_24704 Can confirm, mine's the same. You need a long allen key or hex bit socket to get them out from behind, bit awkward angle but doable

@J. S. Fair point! Though sometimes it's easier to ask than crawl under in the mud 😅

Had same confusion first time I did mine. They're recessed into the caliper mounting - 7mm hex socket. Bring a breaker bar, they can be proper tight

@user_24704 yep female sockets, also make sure you've got penetrating oil handy cause those bolts love to seize up on the Boxers

@J. S. Haha exactly, plus if you've never done a Boxer before it's not obvious they're hidden like that. Saved me time asking a mate before I started

My mechanic friend told me Ducato/Relay/Boxer all use same setup - internal hex bolts on rear calipers. Pain to access but stops them getting damaged or rounded off as easily

@SeanWebb +1 on the breaker bar. Snapped a regular allen key trying to crack mine loose last year, learned that lesson the hard way

If they're really stuck, heat gun helps but be careful round the brake fluid. Had to do that on my 2011 Boxer, came out eventually

Just a heads up - some year models need the handbrake cable disconnecting first before you can swing the caliper out properly. Check yours before you start pulling things apart

@Geoff Newman Good shout, forgot about that on mine and wondered why caliper wouldn't budge! Felt like a right numpty when I realised
