In 2013 I bought a Skoda Octavia 1.6 tdi from a Skoda Dealers in Tipton.
I am currently involved in a claim for the falsified emitions. However one of the recent questions I was asked was, what was the name of the dealer which sold me the car. I have looked everywhere to try and find it. A few years I discovered that it was no longer there, and has since been amalgamated in to Wolverhampton Skoda. If anyone can put forward any suggestions at all, I will be extremely grateful.
- @G.Hill.M04.11.2025 18:06MemberMate, had a similar thing few years back trying to track down paperwork. From what I recall, there was a Skoda place in Tipton around that time, but it got bought up when Trust Group opened their Wolverhampton site in late 2013. The dealer was called Auto Sales Bilston - they had the Skoda franchise before Trust took over. Worth checking if that rings any bells?
- @ethan_tech04.11.2025 19:26MemberYeah @G.Hill.M is spot on. Trust Group basically acquired the business from Auto Sales around autumn 2013, then moved everything to the new Cannock Road site in Wolverhampton. If you bought yours in 2013, could've been right around the changeover period.
- @e.wright1404.11.2025 20:21@user_1033317Member@user_115161 Have you tried contacting Johnsons Skoda Wolverhampton directly? They're on Cannock Road now - different group from Trust but they might have access to old dealer records or know who to contact. Dealerships sometimes keep archives when other places close down.โ
- @James Baker05.11.2025 08:29MemberI'd ring up Trust Group too mate. Even though they're not the same group anymore, they were the ones who took over from the Tipton/Bilston dealer back then, so they might still have some records from the acquisition. Worth a shot innit.โ
- @daniel.scott_3405.11.2025 10:39Member@user_115161 For your emissions claim you'll probably need the exact dealer name. Auto Sales Bilston is the one you want I reckon, that's who was running the Skoda franchise in that area before the Wolverhampton place opened. Check your old bank statements maybe? Purchase might show up with dealer name on it.โ
- @F. Adams05.11.2025 12:13MemberHad mate who worked at one of them places - he said when dealers get bought out like that, records usually transfer to the new owner. So Trust Group should theoretically have your sales paperwork from 2013. Give 'em a bell on 01902 907070.โ
- @WOOD C. J.05.11.2025 12:59Member@user_115161 Also check your V5C logbook - sometimes the selling dealer's stamp is on there when they first registered it. Might have the old dealer details you need for the claim.
- @SportKing ๐05.11.2025 19:33MemberEmissions scandal stuff is proper messy mate. But yeah Auto Sales Bilston was definitely the dealer - they had premises somewhere round Bilston/Tipton way before Trust consolidated everything into Wolverhampton. Your solicitor handling the claim should be able to dig that up too.โ
- @WILLY_WHITE05.11.2025 20:03Member@user_115161 Another option - if you've still got the original service book from when you bought it, first service stamp might have the dealer name on it. Or try looking through old emails if you sorted anything by email back in 2013?
- @A.C. Tech05.11.2025 20:26Member@user_115161 Might be worth checking Companies House records as well - you can search for dissolved companies. If Auto Sales Bilston closed or merged, there should be a paper trail showing what happened to them and when. Could help prove which dealer sold you the car for your claim.โ
- @J/OWEN05.11.2025 20:44MemberGood luck with the emissions claim mate. Proper frustrating when you can't find basic info like dealer names. Hopefully Trust or Johnsons can sort you out with the records - they've got to have kept that stuff somewhere.โ
