SACHS, LuK and VALEO are the best manufacturers of factory clutches.

I had rattling noise at idle with my old Passat, turned out the dual mass flywheel was toast. Changed it with LuK kit and problem solved, been running smooth for 2 years now

Mate Anna is spot on about those brands. I've used Sachs on my Transit and the pedal feel is really nice and soft, much better than the grinding noise I had before with the knackered flywheel

If you're hearing metallic chatter or grinding, your flywheel teeth might be damaged. When I did mine last year I went with Valeo kit - bit pricey but worth it, no issues since. Just make sure you replace both flywheel and clutch together otherwise the new clutch will wear out fast

@user_101314 Had similar problem on my Golf TDI, was getting vibrations through the floor and clutch pedal. Ended up being cracked dual mass flywheel. Went with Sachs conversion kit, saved some money vs buying another dual mass

honestly all three brands Anna mentioned are solid. My mechanic mate swears by LuK for most jobs, says they last ages. Just one thing - you CANNOT mix brands! If you're keeping your old flywheel you need to match the same brand, otherwise it won't fit properly

@perry_29 yeah that's true about matching brands. I learned that the hard way when I tried mixing LuK clutch with Valeo flywheel on my Audi, had to return it and get matching set

Valeo gave me over 150k km on my old Mondeo before needing replacement. The squealing noise from slipping clutch was driving me mad before the change. Whatever brand you pick just replace both together - flywheel is already half worn when clutch goes

@user_101314 Get the work done soon mate, if that flywheel completely fails it can damage your gearbox and then you're looking at much bigger bills. All three brands are good quality, I'd go with whatever your local supplier has in stock honestly
