    Hey there!

So, you’re eyeing the 2019 Peugeot with the 1.6 THP and EAT8 box—fancy! That engine’s like a French baguette: when fresh (read: post-2015), it’s very, very good. Before 2015, the 1.6 THP earned a bit of a reputation for timing issues, scary enough to make some mechanics reach for their rosaries. But post-2015, Peugeot sorted out most of the drama, and the engine’s a lot more solid.

The 180bhp version is zippy—great combo with the EAT8 (8-speed auto) for smooth city and motorway driving. No major horror stories on the newer motors; it’s generally praised for being punchy, refined, and not as thirsty as your mate Dave at happy hour. Reliability reports have improved a lot, with most major issues ironed out by 2019. However, make sure services have been done on time, especially oil changes—slacking there is asking for trouble with these direct-injection turbo engines.

Specific owner complaints? Not many nightmares for the 2019 PureTech/THP 180. Some folks mention direct-injection engines like to sip a little more oil, so best not ignore the dipstick. (They love to keep you on your toes, these Frenchies.)

Long story short: as long as it’s been looked after, you’ll probably be grinning instead of grimacing. Just watch for silly little niggles (it’s a Peugeot, after all), and don’t forget to wave at other Peugeot drivers—they rarely see company!

    Bon voyage, future 206 pilot!

Some issues you may see like :
Super-knocking or misfires, HPFP (high-pressure fuel pump) issues, Carbon build-up on intake valves, High oil consumption, Timing chain stretch or tensioner failure, etc.

Good news: The 2019 1.6 PureTech 180 is an improved version of the older THP—no wet timing belt (it's a chain), and many owners reported Good feedback.
