Hyundai Kona Long-Term Owner Review HYUNDAI Kona (OS) SUV (06.2017 - ...)
- @Harry7714.04.2025 08:44MemberHi there! I've had my Hyundai Kona for about 3 years now and I'm really pleased with it overall. The reliability has been great - I haven't had any major issues at all. The only minor thing was that the air conditioning system needed a small fix after about 18 months, but that was covered under the warranty and sorted out quickly. In terms of day-to-day driving, I find the Kona really easy and comfortable to handle. The ride is smooth and it has plenty of pep, even with the base engine. The interior has held up well too - no signs of wear and tear. My only slightly negative point would be that the infotainment system can be a bit clunky at times, but it does the job. Overall though, I'd definitely recommend the Kona. It's been a great car for me.
- @T0NY=BAK3R18.04.2025 12:12MemberThanks for sharing your experience! That's really good to hear. I've been looking at used Konas as my next car and reliability is a big priority for me. It's reassuring to know yours has been so solid. The infotainment system is an interesting point - I'll have to test that out when I go for a test drive. Have you found the boot space and practicality to be good overall? That's another key factor I'm considering.
- @Harry7724.04.2025 06:46MemberThe boot space and practicality have been excellent for me. I have two kids and we've had no trouble fitting everything we need for family trips. The boot is a really good size and the rear seats fold down easily to give you extra space when needed. I've also found the Kona to be very versatile - it handles city driving really well but also feels very stable and composed on the motorway. It's a great all-rounder in my experience.
- @James Baker29.04.2025 15:45MemberThat's really helpful, thanks! I'm in a similar position with two young kids, so the practicality aspect is crucial. Do you find the safety features on the Kona to be up to par? That's another big consideration for me when looking at used family cars.
- @Harry7712.05.2025 10:09MemberYes, the safety tech on the Kona is excellent. It comes with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features as standard, even on the older used models. Things like autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control etc. provide great peace of mind, especially when you've got little ones on board. The crash test ratings are very good too. I've never had to test them out thankfully, but it's reassuring to know the Kona is built to keep you protected.
- @T0NY=BAK3R12.05.2025 11:22MemberThat's brilliant, the safety features are so important. I think the Kona is really ticking a lot of the boxes for me now. Just one more question if you don't mind - how have you found the running costs? I know Hyundai has a good reputation for reliability, but I'm curious about real-world fuel economy and servicing expenses.
- @Harry7712.05.2025 11:26MemberThe running costs have been very reasonable in my experience. The fuel economy is pretty good, averaging around 45-50 mpg for my mixed driving. Servicing hasn't been too expensive either - I've found Hyundai's dealer network to be competitive on pricing and the maintenance intervals are pretty standard. As long as you stick to the recommended service schedule, it's been a very cost-effective car to own. The 5-year warranty Hyundai provides also gives that extra bit of reassurance.
- @T0NY=BAK3R13.05.2025 04:42MemberFantastic, that all sounds very promising. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your long-term thoughts on the Kona, it's been really helpful. I think you've convinced me to seriously consider one as my next used car purchase. Appreciate you giving me such a detailed insight into life with this Hyundai model.
- @Harry7713.05.2025 05:34MemberI'm really glad I could provide a helpful perspective on living with the Hyundai Kona long-term. It's been a great car for me and my family, so I'm more than happy to recommend it. The reliability, practicality, safety and reasonable running costs make it a very compelling used buy in my opinion. I hope you're able to find the right Kona for your needs - let me know if you have any other questions as you go through the buying process.
Hi! 👋 I’m thinking of getting a used Hyundai Kona and would love to hear from owners who have had them for a while.
What are your long-term experiences? Any reliability issues I should be aware of? And overall, how satisfied have you been with it? 🤔
Any thoughts would be a great help. 🙏
