My wife sent her Peugeot 208 in to have a cam belt replacement after being advised it would need doing soon after a MOT.

The work was done but on the very short journey home she realised there was no power in the car. The garage took the car back and tried a few things, replaced some parts but couldn’t find the problem.

They said they would have to send it to Peugeot which they would cover the cost.

It’s been 2 months now and they’ve finally said that a cylinder or something needs replacing and they’re 95% sure this will fix the car. But it’s over 2k which the garage say they will pay half as a gesture of good will.

They’ve been demanding we make a decision by today(they know we’re on holiday and come home today) it seems to me they have damaged the car during the cam belt replacement and now expect us to pay for it. Where do I stand with this?

Thanks
