How to change a front strut mount on MAZDA 3 BK TUTORIAL | AUTODOC

Replacement: strut mount – Mazda 3 BK. AUTODOC recommends:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the left and right shock struts of the front suspension.
- All mounts of the front shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
- Please note: all work on the car – Mazda 3 BK – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Mazda 3 BK
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the ABS wiring harness bracket.Step 9Remove the stabilizer rod.Step 10Remove the fastener attaching the brake hose to the shock strut. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 11Detach the brake hose from the shock strut.Step 12Clean the lower fastener connecting the suspension strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 13Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Remove the fastening bolt.Step 15Release the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.Step 16Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 17Lower the car.
- Step 18Open the bonnet.
- Step 19Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 20Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 21Unscrew the upper fasteners of the shock strut (3 pieces). Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Mazda 3 BK
- Step 22Remove the suspension strut.
- Step 23Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.Replacement: strut mount – Mazda 3 BK. AUTODOC experts recommend:Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
- Step 24Compress the spring.Step 25Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 26Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H6. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 27Remove the top strut mount. Use a flat screwdriver.Replacement: strut mount – Mazda 3 BK. AUTODOC recommends:Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
- Step 28Install a new top shock strut mount.
- Step 29Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 60 Nm torque.Replacement: strut mount – Mazda 3 BK. Tip:Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.
- Step 30Decompress the spring.Step 31Treat the shock strut rod. Use copper grease.
- Step 32Remove the assembled shock strut.Step 33Install the shock strut into the wheel arch.
