Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – CITROËN C8 (EA_, EB_). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Remove the battery terminals.
- Step 4Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap.
- Step 5Unscrew the fasteners of the windscreen wiper arms. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 6Remove the wiper arms. Use a universal puller.
- Step 7Remove the clips of the plastic cowl grille. Use a clip removal tool.
- Step 8Unscrew the fasteners of the brake fluid reservoir. Use Torx T20. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Unscrew the fasteners of the cowl grille. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Raise up and remove the cowl grille.
- Step 11Release the coolant reservoir retainers. Use a clip removal tool.
- Step 12Remove the coolant tank protective cover.
- Step 13Remove the engine cover.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – CITROËN C8 (EA_, EB_). Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
- Step 14Squeeze the clips and detach the fuel supply lines from the fuel filter housing. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 15Close the fuel lines with caps.
- Step 16Secure the engine. Use an engine support beam.
- Step 17Clean the engine mount fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 18Unscrew the fasteners that connect the engine mount to the car body. Use a drive socket #E14. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 19Unscrew the engine mount fasteners. Use Torx T50. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 20Remove the engine mount.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – CITROËN C8 (EA_, EB_). Tip:Carefully check the other engine mounts and replace them if necessary.
- Step 21Remove the fastening bolts.Step 22Unscrew the fasteners of the upper timing cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 23Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 24Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 25Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 26Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. CITROËN C8 (EA_, EB_)
- Step 27Remove the wheel.
- Step 28Remove the wheel arch cover.
- Step 29Disconnect the connector of the crankshaft position sensor.
- Step 30Detach the crankshaft position sensor wiring. Use a clip removal tool.
- Step 31Unscrew the fasteners of the upper timing cover. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 32Remove the upper timing cover.
- Step 33Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #15.
- Step 34Remove the V-ribbed belt.
- Step 35Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position. Use a combination spanner #15.Step 36Turn the crankshaft gear. Use a drive socket #22. Use a ratchet wrench.Please note!The piston should be at its top dead centre (TDC).
- Step 37Install the crankshaft locking tool according to the factory marks. Use an engine timing tool set.
- Step 38Install the camshaft gear locking tool according to the factory marks. Use an engine timing tool set.
- Step 39Unscrew the crankshaft pulley fastener. Use a drive socket #22. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 40Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 41Remove the crankshaft pulley.
- Step 42Unscrew the fasteners of the lower timing cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 43Unscrew the fastener of the crankshaft position sensor. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 44Remove the crankshaft position sensor.
- Step 45Remove the lower timing cover.
- Step 46Remove the crankshaft gear locking tool. Use a universal puller.
- Step 47Loosen the fastener of the timing belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #13. Use HEX No.H6.
- Step 48Make a mark on the timing belt.
- Step 49Make a mark on the camshaft gear.
- Step 50Make a mark on the crankshaft gear.
- Step 51Unscrew the fastener of the timing belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #13.
- Step 52Remove the timing belt tensioner pulley.
- Step 53Remove the timing belt.
- Step 54Unscrew the fastener of the timing belt idler pulley. Use a combination spanner #15.
- Step 55Remove the timing belt idler pulley from its mounting seat.
- Step 56Prepare a container for fluids.
- Step 57Detach the clamp of the lower coolant pipe. Use clic-R collar pliers.
- Step 58Detach the lower coolant pipe.
- Step 59Drain the coolant from the engine.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – CITROËN C8 (EA_, EB_). Professionals recommend:Caution! The coolant can be very hot.Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.All work should be done with the engine stopped.
- Step 60Attach the lower coolant pipe.
- Step 61Attach the clamp of the lower coolant pipe. Use clic-R collar pliers.
- Step 62Clean the water pump fasteners. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 63Unscrew the water pump fasteners. Use a drive socket #11. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 64Remove the water pump.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – CITROËN C8 (EA_, EB_). AUTODOC experts recommend:Caution! Coolant may come out from the water pump channels and body.
- Step 65Clean the water pump mounting seat. Use a seal scraper. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 66Clean the water pump. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 67Install the water pump gasket.
- Step 68Treat the fastening bolts. Use a sealant.
- Step 69Install the new water pump.
- Step 70Screw in the water pump fasteners. Use a drive socket #11. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 71Tighten the water pump fasteners. Use a drive socket #11. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 12 Nm torque.
- Step 72Install the timing belt idler pulley.
- Step 73Screw in the fastener of the timing belt idler pulley. Use a combination spanner #15.
- Step 74Tighten the fastener of the timing belt idler pulley. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.
- Step 75Install the timing belt tensioner pulley.
- Step 76Screw in the fastener of the timing belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #13.Step 77Install the new timing belt according to the factory marks.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – CITROËN C8 (EA_, EB_). Tip from AUTODOC:Be careful not to damage the timing belt.
- Step 78Install the crankshaft gear locking tool according to the factory marks. Use an engine timing tool set.
- Step 79Adjust the timing belt tension by moving the tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #13. Use HEX No.H6.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – CITROËN C8 (EA_, EB_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Make sure that the timing belt is properly tensioned.
- Step 80Tighten the fastener of the timing belt tensioner pulley. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 21 Nm torque.
- Step 81Remove the crankshaft gear locking tool.
- Step 82Install the crankshaft gear locking tool.
- Step 83Install the fastening bolt.
- Step 84Remove the crankshaft locking tool.
- Step 85Remove the camshaft gear locking tool.
- Step 86Screw in the crankshaft pulley fastener. Use a drive socket #22. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 87Turn the crankshaft gear. Use a drive socket #22. Use a ratchet wrench.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – CITROËN C8 (EA_, EB_). AUTODOC experts recommend:Make sure all the timing belt components are mounted correctly.
- Step 88Unscrew the crankshaft pulley fastener. Use a drive socket #22. Use a ratchet wrench.
