- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3
Remove the battery terminals. - Step 4
Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap. - Step 5
Unscrew the fasteners of the windscreen wiper arms. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 6
Remove the wiper arms. Use a universal puller. - Step 7
Remove the clips of the plastic cowl grille. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 8
Unscrew the fasteners of the brake fluid reservoir. Use Torx T20. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 9
Unscrew the fasteners of the cowl grille. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 10
Raise up and remove the cowl grille. - Step 11
Release the coolant reservoir retainers. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 12
Remove the coolant tank protective cover. - Step 13
Remove the engine cover.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – CITROËN C5 III (RD_). Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it. - Step 14
Squeeze the clips and detach the fuel supply lines from the fuel filter housing. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 15
Close the fuel lines with caps. - Step 16
Secure the engine. Use an engine support beam. - Step 17
Clean the engine mount fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 18
Unscrew the fasteners that connect the engine mount to the car body. Use a drive socket #E14. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 19
Unscrew the engine mount fasteners. Use Torx T50. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 20
Remove the engine mount.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – CITROËN C5 III (RD_). Tip:Carefully check the other engine mounts and replace them if necessary. - Step 21Remove the fastening bolts.Step 22
Unscrew the fasteners of the upper timing cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 23
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 24
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 25Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 26

Remove the wheel. - Step 28
Remove the wheel arch cover. - Step 29
Disconnect the connector of the crankshaft position sensor. - Step 30
Detach the crankshaft position sensor wiring. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 31
Unscrew the fasteners of the upper timing cover. Use a combination spanner #10. - Step 32
Remove the upper timing cover. - Step 33
Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #15. - Step 34
Remove the V-ribbed belt. - Step 35Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position. Use a combination spanner #15.Step 36
Turn the crankshaft gear. Use a drive socket #22. Use a ratchet wrench.Please note!The piston should be at its top dead centre (TDC). - Step 37
Install the crankshaft locking tool according to the factory marks. Use an engine timing tool set. - Step 38
Install the camshaft gear locking tool according to the factory marks. Use an engine timing tool set. - Step 39
Unscrew the crankshaft pulley fastener. Use a drive socket #22. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 40
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 41
Remove the crankshaft pulley. - Step 42
Unscrew the fasteners of the lower timing cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 43
Unscrew the fastener of the crankshaft position sensor. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 44
Remove the crankshaft position sensor. - Step 45
Remove the lower timing cover. - Step 46
Remove the crankshaft gear locking tool. Use a universal puller. - Step 47
Loosen the fastener of the timing belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #13. Use HEX No.H6. - Step 48
Make a mark on the timing belt. - Step 49
Make a mark on the camshaft gear. - Step 50
Make a mark on the crankshaft gear. - Step 51
Unscrew the fastener of the timing belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #13. - Step 52
Remove the timing belt tensioner pulley. - Step 53
Remove the timing belt. - Step 54
Unscrew the fastener of the timing belt idler pulley. Use a combination spanner #15. - Step 55
Remove the timing belt idler pulley from its mounting seat. - Step 56
Prepare a container for fluids. - Step 57
Detach the clamp of the lower coolant pipe. Use clic-R collar pliers. - Step 58
Detach the lower coolant pipe. - Step 59

Attach the lower coolant pipe. - Step 61

Clean the water pump mounting seat. Use a seal scraper. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 66
