How to change rear shock absorber on VOLVO V70 2 (SW) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Shock Absorber for V70 II (285) and other VOLVO models
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 11
Remove the wheel.
Step 12
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 13
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 14
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 15
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber.

Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Volvo V70 SW
Step 16
Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 17
Remove the shock absorber. Use a crowbar.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Volvo V70 SW. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
Step 18
Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 19
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and fasten it.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Volvo V70 SW. Tip from AUTODOC:
To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber cautiously tight when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 20
Install the fastening bolt.
Step 21
Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18.
Step 22
Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use locking pliers. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 60 Nm torque.
Step 23
Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 85 Nm torque.
Step 24
Remove the support from under the arm.
AUTODOC recommends:
Volvo V70 SW – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
Step 25
Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 26
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 27
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
