Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – Ford Transit Mk7 van. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Replace the anti-roll bar links and bushes in pairs.
The replacement procedure is identical for the anti-roll bar links and bushes on both sides of the same axle.
Please note: all work on the car – Ford Transit Mk7 van – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out the replacement steps as follows:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel nuts on the front wheels. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar.
Step 3
Raise the vehicle.
Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – Ford Transit Mk7 van. AUTODOC recommends:
If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 4
Unscrew the nuts on one of the wheels and remove it.
Caution!
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the nuts.
Step 5
Remove the other wheel in the same way.
Step 6
Clean the fasteners of one of the anti-roll bar links. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the anti-roll bar link to the anti-roll bar. Use a 19 mm combination spanner. Use an H5 Allen key to secure the ball stud. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Unscrew the fastener connecting the anti-roll bar link to the suspension strut. Use a 19 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Remove the anti-roll bar link.
Step 10
Follow the same steps to remove the other anti-roll bar link.
Step 11
Clean the bracket fasteners of one of the anti-roll bar bushes. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 12
Unscrew the fasteners of the anti-roll bar bush bracket. Use a 10 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13
Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 14
Remove the anti-roll bar bush bracket.
Step 15
Remove the anti-roll bar bush.
Step 16
Follow the same steps to remove the other anti-roll bar bush bracket and the bush.
Step 17
Clean the mounting seats of the anti-roll bar bushes. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 18
Install a new anti-roll bar bush on one side of the axle.
Step 19
Install the anti-roll bar bush bracket.
Step 20
Install and screw in the fastening bolts.
Step 21
Follow the same steps to install a new anti-roll bar bush and the bracket on the other side.
Step 22
Tighten the fasteners on both anti-roll bar bush brackets. Use a 10 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 25 N·m.
Step 23
Clean the mounting seats of the anti-roll bar link on one side of the axle. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 24
Install a new anti-roll bar link and its fasteners.
Step 25
Tighten the fastener connecting the anti-roll bar link to the anti-roll bar. Use a 20 mm combination spanner. Use a 17 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 55 N·m.
Step 26
Tighten the fastener connecting the anti-roll bar link to the suspension strut. Use a 20 mm combination spanner. Use a 17 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 55 N·m.
Step 27
Follow the same steps to install a new anti-roll bar link on the other side.
Step 28
Clean the mounting seat of one of the wheels. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 29
Treat the wheel hub surface that contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 30
Install the wheel.
Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – Ford Transit Mk7 van. Professionals recommend:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing on the fastening nuts.
Step 31
Screw on the wheel nuts. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 32
Reinstall the other wheel in the same way.
Step 33
Lower the car and tighten the wheel nuts in a criss-cross order. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 200 N·m.
Step 34
Remove the jack, jack stands, and wheel chocks.
