Replacement: spark plugs – OPEL FRONTERA B (6B_). Professionals recommend:
The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – OPEL FRONTERA B (6B_).
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Open the hood. Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 2
Remove the engine cover.
Step 3
Detach the connector from the ignition coil. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 4
Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 5
Pry up the ignition coil. Use a crowbar.
Step 6
Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.
Step 7
Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
Step 8
Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Take out the spark plugs.
Step 10
Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
Step 11
Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats.
Step 12
Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 24 nm torque.
Replacement: spark plugs – OPEL FRONTERA B (6B_). AUTODOC recommends:
Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.
Step 13
Install the ignition coil to the spark plug well. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.
Step 14
Tighten the ignition coil fastening. Use Torx T30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 15 nm torque.
Step 15
Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.
Replacement: spark plugs – OPEL FRONTERA B (6B_). Tip:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 16
Plug in the ignition coil connector.
Step 17
Install the engine cover and secure it. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.
Step 18
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly. Shut off the engine.
Step 19
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 20
Close the hood.
