Replacement: spark plugs – CITROËN XSARA Box. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: spark plugs – CITROËN XSARA Box. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3
Detach the PCV valve. - Step 4
Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the intake manifold. - Step 5Remove the crankcase ventilation hoses.Step 6
Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the air duct. - Step 7
Detach the throttle valve connectors. - Step 8
Detach the connector from the ignition coil. - Step 9
Detach the connector from the intake manifold. - Step 10
Cover the PCV valve hole with a microfibre cloth to prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into the system. - Step 11
Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 12
Pry up the ignition coil. Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well. - Step 13
Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells. - Step 14
Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 15
Take out the spark plugs. Use a telescoping magnet. - Step 16Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.Step 17
Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats. Use the spark plug socket #16. - Step 18
Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 28 nm torque.Replacement: spark plugs – CITROËN XSARA Box. AUTODOC recommends:Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection. - Step 19
Treat the ignition coil tips. Use high-temperature grease.
