Replacement: serpentine belt – CITROËN XSARA Box Body / Hatchback. Tools you might need:
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: serpentine belt – CITROËN XSARA Box Body / Hatchback. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 4Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 5Raise the car.Replacement: serpentine belt – CITROËN XSARA Box Body / Hatchback. AUTODOC recommends:If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 6Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. CITROËN XSARA Box Body / Hatchback
- Step 7Remove the wheel.
- Step 8Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use a clip removal tool. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
- Step 9Remove the wheel arch cover.
- Step 10Release the coolant pipe fasteners.
- Step 11Clean the tensioner pulley fastener. Use a wire brush.
- Step 12Loosen the tensioner pulley fastener. Use HEX No.H8. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a 1/4" square drive extension bar. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Remove the V-ribbed belt.Replacement: serpentine belt – CITROËN XSARA Box Body / Hatchback. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Check the condition of the tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Replace them if necessary.
- Step 15Install the V-ribbed belt.Replacement: serpentine belt – CITROËN XSARA Box Body / Hatchback. Professionals recommend:Make sure that the V-ribbed belt fits all pulleys snugly.
- Step 16Tension the belt by turning the tensioner pulley clockwise. Use a 1/4" square drive extension bar. Use a ratchet wrench.Replacement: serpentine belt – CITROËN XSARA Box Body / Hatchback. Tip:Keep the belt taut until you've tightened the tensioner pulley fastener.
- Step 17Tighten the fastener of the serpentine belt tensioner pulley. Use HEX No.H8. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.
