How to change rear wheel bearing on VOLVO V70 BW [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Wheel Bearing for V70 III (135) and other VOLVO models
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
Step 10
Remove the brake pads.
Step 11
Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 12
Unscrew the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13
Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 14
Remove the brake caliper bracket.
Step 15
Clean the brake disc fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 16
Unscrew the brake disc fasteners. Use Torx T50. Use an impact screwdriver. Use a hammer.
Step 17
Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 18
Remove the brake disc.
Step 19
Clean the wheel hub fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 20
Clean the ABS sensor fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 21
Unscrew the ABS sensor fastener. Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 22
Disconnect the ABS sensor.
Step 23
Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 24
Clean the wheel hub fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 25
Unscrew the wheel hub fasteners. Use Torx T55. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 26
Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 27
Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are made as an assembly.
Step 28
Remove the brake disc cover.
Step 29
Clean the wheel hub mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 30
Install the brake disc cover.
Step 31
Install the new wheel hub together with the bearing.
Step 32
Install the fastening bolts.
Step 33
Tighten the wheel hub fasteners. Use Torx T55. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 34
Clean the ABS sensor. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 35
Connect the ABS sensor.
Step 36
Install the fastening bolt.
Step 37
Tighten the ABS sensor fastener. Use Torx T25. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 5 Nm torque.
Step 38
Treat the hub where it contacts the brake disk. Use ceramic grease.
Step 39
Install the brake disc.
Step 40
Install the fastening bolt.
Step 41
Tighten the brake disc fasteners. Use Torx T50. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 15 Nm torque.
Step 42
Clean the brake caliper bracket of dirt and dust. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Volvo V70 BW. Tip from AUTODOC:
Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
Step 43
Install the brake caliper bracket.
Step 44
Install the fastening bolts.
Step 45
Tighten the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 46
Install the brake pads.
Step 47
Install the brake caliper and fasten it.
Step 48
Install the fastening bolts.
Step 49
Tighten the brake caliper fasteners. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.
Step 50
Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 51
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 52
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
Step 53
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. Volvo V70 BW
Step 54
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 55
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 140 Nm torque.
Step 56
Remove the jacks and chocks.
