- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your Peugeot 307 SW car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Peugeot 307 SW. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: wheel bearing – Peugeot 307 SW. AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Release the parking brake cable. Use water pump pliers. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 8
Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 9
Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar. - Step 10
Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: wheel bearing – Peugeot 307 SW. AUTODOC experts recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary. - Step 11
Remove the brake pads. - Step 12
Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 13
Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use Torx T50. Use a tap wrench. - Step 14
Remove the caliper bracket. - Step 15
Clean the hub bearing protection cap. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 16
Remove the hub bearing protection cap. Use a hammer. Use a crowbar.Replacement: wheel bearing – Peugeot 307 SW. Tip:Some cars are not equipped with wheel hub caps. - Step 17
Unstake the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer. - Step 18
Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use a drive socket #32. Use a tap wrench. - Step 19
Remove the brake disc assemled with the wheel hub bearing. Use the hub slide hammer puller. - Step 20
Clean the surface around the ABS tone ring. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 21Remove the ABS tone ring. Use a crowbar.Step 22
Remove the wheel hub bearing retaining ring. Use circlip pliers. - Step 23
Press out the wheel hub bearing. Use a bush and bearing driver set. - Step 24
Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 25
Press fit the new wheel hub bearing into the brake disc. Use a bush and bearing driver set.Replacement: wheel bearing – Peugeot 307 SW. Professionals recommend:Check to make sure the wheel hub bearing is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment. Stop pressing on the surface of the bearing immediately after it has been fitted into its mounting seat. - Step 26
Install the wheel hub bearing retaining ring. Use circlip pliers.
