Replacement: wheel bearing – AUDI A4 (8EC, B7). AUTODOC recommends:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your AUDI A4 (8EC, B7) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – AUDI A4 (8EC, B7). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: wheel bearing – AUDI A4 (8EC, B7). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a combination spanner #15.
- Step 8Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.Replacement: wheel bearing – AUDI A4 (8EC, B7). AUTODOC experts recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 9Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 10Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 11Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use HEX No.H8.
- Step 12Remove the caliper bracket.
- Step 13Clean the brake disc fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Remove the retaining ring. Use a crowbar.
- Step 15Remove the brake disc.
- Step 16Remove the hub bearing protection cap. Use a hammer. Use a crowbar.Replacement: wheel bearing – AUDI A4 (8EC, B7). Tip from AUTODOC:Some cars are not equipped with wheel hub caps.
- Step 17Unscrew the hub bearing mounting. Use HEX No.H19. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 18Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 19Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
- Step 20Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 21Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.
- Step 22Install the fastening bolt.
- Step 23Tighten the fastener of the wheel hub bearing. Use HEX No.H19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 200 Nm torque.+180°Replacement: wheel bearing – AUDI A4 (8EC, B7). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.The wheel bearing unit must not tilt on the axle pin.
