Replacement: rear suspension lower trailing arm – LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10).
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: rear suspension lower trailing arm – LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10). AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the control arm fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Loosen the fastener that connects the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 8Support the stub axle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 9Unscrew the fastener connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 10Unscrew the fastener connecting the trailing arm to the car body. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 11Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 12Remove the arm.
- Step 13Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Install a new arm.Replacement: rear suspension lower trailing arm – LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10). Tip:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 15Install the fastening bolts.
- Step 16Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
