Suspension arm

Suspension arm for RX III (AL10) Petrol/Electric (299 hp)

Replacement: rear suspension lower trailing arm – LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10). List of the tools you'll need:

                        Wire brush
                      
                        WD-40 spray
                      
                        Brake cleaner 
                      
                        Copper grease 
                      
                        Combination spanner #17
                      
                        Combination spanner #18
                      
                        Drive socket # 17 
                      
                        Drive socket # E18 
                      
                        Wheel impact socket #21
                      
                        Torque wrench
                      
                        Tap wrench
                      
                        Hydraulic transmission jack
                      
                        Wheel chock

Replacement: rear suspension lower trailing arm – LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10). AUTODOC experts recommend:

The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10).

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: rear suspension lower trailing arm – LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10). AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Clean the control arm fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7

Loosen the fastener that connects the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 8

Support the stub axle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 9

Unscrew the fastener connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 10

Unscrew the fastener connecting the trailing arm to the car body. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a tap wrench.
Step 11

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 12

Remove the arm.
Step 13

Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 14

Install a new arm.

Replacement: rear suspension lower trailing arm – LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10). Tip:
During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
Step 15

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 16

Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 17

Screw in the fastener that connects the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 18

Tighten the fastener connecting the trailing arm to the car body. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a tap wrench.

Step 19

Tighten the fastener connecting the control arm to the car body. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 80 nm torque.
Step 20

Tighten the fastener connecting the suspension arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 80 nm torque.
Step 21

Remove the support from under the stub axle.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: rear suspension lower trailing arm – LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 22

Treat all joints of the arm. Use copper grease.
Step 23

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 24

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 25

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. LEXUS RX (GYL1_, GGL15, AGL10)
Step 26

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
Step 27

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 103 nm torque.
Step 28

Remove the jacks and chocks.
