Perform the replacement of brake pads in complete set for each axis. This provides effective braking.
The replacement procedure is identical for all brake pads on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Take the following steps:

Step 1

Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Step 2

Press down the pop clips of the protective cover.
Step 3

Remove the protective cover. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 4

Remove the engine cover. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 5

Remove the fuse box cover.
Step 6

Detach the ABS relay.

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. AUTODOC recommends:
Remove the part in strict adherence to the car wiring diagram.
Step 7

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 8

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
Step 9

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 10

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 11

Remove the wheel.
Step 12

Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
Step 13

Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 14

Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #14.
Step 15

Remove the brake caliper.

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
Step 16

Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Tip from AUTODOC:
Measure the brake disc thickness. Upon reaching the wear limit the part must be replaced.
Step 17

Clean the brake caliper bracket from dirt and dust. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 18

Treat the brake pads in the area where their surface comes into contact with the brake caliper bracket. Use anti-squeal paste.

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Tip from AUTODOC:
Make sure the disc surface is clean before installing the pads.
Step 19

Install new brake pads.

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Professionals recommend:
Make sure the pads are installed with linings facing the disc.
Step 20

Treat the brake caliper piston. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 21

Press in the brake caliper piston. Use brake caliper wind back tool.
Step 22

Install the brake caliper and fix it. Use a drive socket #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.
Step 23

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 24

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. AUTODOC recommends:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 25

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. Lexus RX XU30
Step 26

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
Step 27

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 103 Nm torque.
Step 28

Remove the jacks and chocks.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
Step 29

Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap.

AUTODOC recommends:
Lexus RX XU30 – Press the brake pedal several times with the engine shut down until you feel the resistance built up.
Step 30

Attach the ABS relay.

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Install the part in strict adherence to the car wiring diagram.
Step 31

Install the fuse box cover.
Step 32

Install the engine cover.
Step 33

Install the protective cover.
Step 34

Reinstall the pop clips of the protective cover.
Step 35

Close the hood.

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Slow down smoothly for first 150-200 km after the brake pads replacement. Avoid unneccessary and sharp braking to a stop.
