Replacement: strut mount – VW POLO VIVO Hatchback. Tip from AUTODOC experts:

The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the right and left shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
Both mounts of the rear shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
Be sure to replace all self-locking nuts and bolts during installation.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: strut mount – VW POLO VIVO Hatchback. Use the following procedure:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW POLO VIVO Hatchback
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 7

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9

Remove the fastening bolt.

Step 10

Detach the lower part of the shock absorber. Use a crowbar.
Step 11

Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.

Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW POLO VIVO Hatchback
Step 12

Remove the shock absorber.
Step 13

Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Step 14

Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 15

Remove the top strut mount.

Replacement: strut mount – VW POLO VIVO Hatchback. AUTODOC recommends:
Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
Step 16

Install a new strut mount.
Step 17

Screw the shock strut piston rod upper fastening. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 nm torque.
Step 18

Treat the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Step 19

Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.

Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. VW POLO VIVO Hatchback
Step 20

Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 30 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 21

Attach the lower part of the shock absorber.

Step 22

Install the fastening bolt.

Step 23

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 40 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 24

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – VW POLO VIVO Hatchback. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 25

Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 26

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 27

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – VW POLO VIVO Hatchback. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 28

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. VW POLO VIVO Hatchback
Step 29

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 30

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 nm torque.
Step 31

Remove the jacks and chocks.
