                      Wire brush

                      WD-40 spray

                      Hydraulic transmission jack

All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: rear silencer – Nissan Micra K12. Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.
Step 2

Clean the exhaust silencer clamp. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 3

Loosen the exhaust silencer clamp. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 4

Support the silencer. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 5

Treat the rubber mounts of the exhaust silencer. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 6

Detach the rubber mounts of the exhaust silencer. Use a crowbar.
Step 7

Detach the exhaust silencer from the exhaust pipe. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.

Replacement: rear silencer – Nissan Micra K12. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold the silencer firmly when you remove it and when lowering the transmission jack.
Step 8

Remove the hydraulic transmission jack.

Step 9

Remove the exhaust silencer.

Replacement: rear silencer – Nissan Micra K12. Tip:
Inspect the rubber mounts of the exhaust silencer. Replace them if necessary.
Step 10

Clean the mounting seat of the silencer on the exhaust pipe. Use a wire brush. Use sandpaper.
Step 11

Install a new exhaust silencer.
Step 12

Attach the exhaust silencer to the exhaust pipe.
Step 13

Attach the rubber mounts to the exhaust silencer.
Step 14

Tighten the exhaust silencer clamp. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.

AUTODOC recommends:
Do not overtighten the clamp, or you might damage it.
Step 15

Lower the car.
Step 16

Run the engine for a few minutes.

Shut off the engine.
