Replacement: shock absorbers – SUZUKI SWIFT IV (FZ, NZ). Tip from AUTODOC:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – SUZUKI SWIFT IV (FZ, NZ) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21. - Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. SUZUKI SWIFT IV (FZ, NZ) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 7
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Support the stub axle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 9
Detach the lower part of the shock absorber. - Step 10Remove the support from under the stub axle.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: shock absorbers – SUZUKI SWIFT IV (FZ, NZ). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.Step 11
Lower the car. - Step 12Open the boot lid.Step 13
Remove the clips of the boot side lining. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 14
Detach the boot side lining. - Step 15Detach the bulb connector.Step 16Clean the fasteners of the shock absorber upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 17
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench.AUTODOC recommends:SUZUKI SWIFT IV (FZ, NZ) – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. - Step 18
Remove the shock absorber. - Step 19
Remove the top mount. - Step 20
Remove the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop.Replacement: shock absorbers – SUZUKI SWIFT IV (FZ, NZ). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times. - Step 21
Install the dust sleeve and the bump stop on the new shock absorber. - Step 22
Install the top mount on the new shock absorber and secure it. - Step 23
Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 24
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.AUTODOC recommends:SUZUKI SWIFT IV (FZ, NZ) – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. - Step 25
Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 28 Nm torque.
