Replacement: shock absorbers – PEUGEOT 308 SW I Kasten / Kombi (4E_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – PEUGEOT 308 SW I Kasten / Kombi (4E_) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: shock absorbers – PEUGEOT 308 SW I Kasten / Kombi (4E_). AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 8Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. PEUGEOT 308 SW I Kasten / Kombi (4E_)
- Step 10Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 11Remove the shock absorber.
- Step 12Grip the shock absorber in a vice.
- Step 13Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a shock absorber socket DD№6. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 15Remove the shock absorber mount, boot and bump stop.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: shock absorbers – PEUGEOT 308 SW I Kasten / Kombi (4E_). Carefully inspect the mount, the boot, and the bump stop of the shock absorber. Replace if necessary.Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
- Step 16Install the mount, boot and bump stop onto a new shock absorber.
- Step 17Tighten the shock absorber rod nut. Use a shock absorber socket DD№6. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 38 nm torque.
- Step 18Treat the shock absorber rod fastener. Use copper grease.
- Step 19Release the vice and take out the shock absorber.
- Step 20Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
