How to change rear shock absorber on OPEL ASTRA H Saloon [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: shock absorbers – Opel Astra H saloon. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – Opel Astra H saloon – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Opel Astra H saloon
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 8Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #Е20. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 9Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 10Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #Е18. Use a tap wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Opel Astra H saloon – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts.
- Step 11Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 12Remove the shock absorber.
- Step 13Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: shock absorbers – Opel Astra H saloon. AUTODOC recommends:Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
- Step 14Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and fasten it.AUTODOC recommends:Opel Astra H saloon – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts.
- Step 15Install the fastening bolts.
