How to change rear springs on OPEL ASTRA H Saloon [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: coil springs – Opel Astra H saloon. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – Opel Astra H saloon – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Opel Astra H saloon - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 8
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #Е20. Use a tap wrench. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 9
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 10
Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: coil springs – Opel Astra H saloon. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms. - Step 11
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 12
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #Е20. Use a tap wrench. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 13
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 14
Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.AUTODOC recommends:Opel Astra H saloon – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car. - Step 15
Pull down the rear suspension beam. Use a crowbar. - Step 16
Remove the spring.Replacement: coil springs – Opel Astra H saloon. Tip from AUTODOC:Inspect the rubber mounts of the suspension spring. Replace if necessary. - Step 17
Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 18
Pull down the rear suspension beam. Use a crowbar. - Step 19
Install the coil spring together with the rubber mounts into the mounting seats. - Step 20
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 21
Install the fastening bolt.
