Replacement: shock absorbers – Citroen Xsara Picasso. AUTODOC recommends:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Citroen Xsara Picasso. Take the following steps:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: shock absorbers – Citroen Xsara Picasso. Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Release the parking brake cable. - Step 8
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #24. Use a combination spanner #24. - Step 9
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #24. Use HEX No.H14. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench. - Step 10
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 11
Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 12
Remove the fastening bolts. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer. - Step 13
Remove the shock absorber.Replacement: shock absorbers – Citroen Xsara Picasso. AUTODOC experts recommend:Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times. - Step 14Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 15
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it. - Step 16
Install the fastening bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. Citroen Xsara Picasso
