How to change rear light on VW T5 TRANSPORTER Van [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
Rear light
- Replace both rear lights at the same time.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left rear lights.
- Please note: all work on the car – VW T5 Transporter – should be done with the engine switched off.
- Step 1
Open the boot lid.
- Step 2
Detach the check strap of the rear barn door.
- Step 3
Unscrew the fasteners connecting the rear light to the car body. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
- Step 4
Remove the rear light.
AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: rear light – VW T5 Transporter. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
- Step 5
Disconnect the wiring harness from the rear light.
- Step 6
Remove the bulb holder together with the bulbs.
Replacement: rear light – VW T5 Transporter. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Do not apply excessive force when removing the part. Otherwise you may damage it.Avoid touching the bulb glass. The finger marks left on it may cause failure.
- Step 7
Install the bulb holder together with the bulbs.

- Step 8
Treat the connectors of the rear light cluster. Use dielectric grease.
