Coil spring

        Coil spring for Fox Hatchback (5Z1, 5Z3, 5Z4) Petrol (55 hp)
      
        Coil spring for Fox Hatchback (5Z1, 5Z3, 5Z4) Petrol (75 hp)
      
        Coil spring for Fox Hatchback (5Z1, 5Z3, 5Z4) Diesel (70 hp)
      
        Coil spring for Fox Hatchback (5Z1, 5Z3, 5Z4) Petrol (60 hp)

Replacement: coil springs – VW FOX (5Z1, 5Z3). Tools you need:

                        Wire brush
                      
                        WD-40 spray
                      
                        Copper grease 
                      
                        Combination spanner #16
                      
                        Drive socket # 16 
                      
                        Wheel impact socket #17
                      
                        Ratchet wrench
                      
                        Torque wrench
                      
                        Hydraulic transmission jack
                      
                        Wheel chock

Replacement: coil springs – VW FOX (5Z1, 5Z3). Tip from AUTODOC:

Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
Please note: all work on the car – VW FOX (5Z1, 5Z3) – should be done with the engine switched off.

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW FOX (5Z1, 5Z3)
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Secure the rear axle beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 7

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9

Lower the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: coil springs – VW FOX (5Z1, 5Z3). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 10

Remove the spring.
Step 11

Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush.
Step 12

Install the spring.
Step 13

Secure the rear axle beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 14

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 40 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 15

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
VW FOX (5Z1, 5Z3) – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
Step 16

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
Step 17

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. VW FOX (5Z1, 5Z3)
Step 18

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 19

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 nm torque.
Step 20

Remove the jacks and chocks.
