  • All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
  1. Step 1
    Open the bonnet.
    Step 2
    Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
    Step 3
    Secure the wheels with chocks.
    Step 4
    Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
    Step 5
    Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.
    Step 6
    Unscrew the wheel bolts.
    AUTODOC recommends:
    Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW FOX (5Z1, 5Z3)
    Step 7
    Remove the wheel.

    Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #16.
  2. Step 9

    Remove the V-ribbed belt.
  3. Step 10
    Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position. Use a combination spanner #16.
    Replacement: serpentine belt – VW FOX (5Z1, 5Z3). Professionals recommend:
    Check the condition of the tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Replace them if necessary.
    Step 11
    Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #16.

    Install the V-ribbed belt.
    Replacement: serpentine belt – VW FOX (5Z1, 5Z3). Tip:
    Make sure that the V-ribbed belt fits all pulleys snugly.

    Why is this manual available in English, but not in Dutch? If you've already created the instruction manual, why not translate it to other languages? I can only find this manual on the UK version of this website, bit of a shame really.
