How to change rear springs / rear coil springs on MERCEDES-BENZ VITO 1 (W638) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: coil springs – Mercedes Vito W638. Tip from AUTODOC:
- Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – Mercedes Vito W638 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Mercedes Vito W638
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 7Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 8Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #21. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 9Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 10Detach the lower part of the shock absorber. Use a crowbar.
- Step 11Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: coil springs – Mercedes Vito W638. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
- Step 12Pull down the rear suspension beam. Use a crowbar.
- Step 13Take out the spring.
- Step 14Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 15Pull down the rear suspension beam. Use a crowbar.
