Replacement: coil springs – Fiat Punto 188. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: coil springs – Fiat Punto 188. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Fiat Punto 188
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 7Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 8Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18.
- Step 9Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 10Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.Replacement: coil springs – Fiat Punto 188. Professionals recommend:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
- Step 11Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 12Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18.
- Step 13Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: coil springs – Fiat Punto 188. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
- Step 14Take out the spring.
- Step 15Remove the rubber spring spacer.
- Step 16Install the rubber spacer on the new coil spring.Step 17Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 18Install the spring.Replacement: coil springs – Fiat Punto 188. AUTODOC experts recommend:Make sure that the coil spring is correctly positioned in its mounting seats.
- Step 19Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
