How to change rear springs / rear coil springs on AUDI A3 1 (8L1) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

WD-40 spray
Copper grease
Drive socket # 16
Combination spanner #16
Torque wrench
Wheel impact socket #17
Hydraulic transmission jack
Wheel chock
Replacement: coil springs – Audi A3 8L1. Tip from AUTODOC:
- Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – Audi A3 8L1 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: coil springs – Audi A3 8L1. AUTODOC experts recommend:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 8
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. - Step 9
Remove the support from under the rear arm.Replacement: coil springs – Audi A3 8L1. Professionals recommend:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms. - Step 10
Take out the spring. - Step 11
Clean the coil spring mounting seats.
