Replacement: brake caliper – VW MULTIVAN VI (SGF, SGM, SGN). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right brake calipers on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: brake caliper – VW MULTIVAN VI (SGF, SGM, SGN). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.Step 2
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 3
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 4Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 5
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW MULTIVAN VI (SGF, SGM, SGN) - Step 6
Remove the wheel. - Step 7
Release the parking brake cable. Use round-nose pliers. Use a crowbar. - Step 8
Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 9
Unscrew the brake caliper fasteners. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 10
Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: brake caliper – VW MULTIVAN VI (SGF, SGM, SGN). AUTODOC recommends:When replacing the brake caliper, it is recommended to check the brake hose for damages and, if necessary, to replace it with a new one. When replacing a brake caliper it is recommended to replace brake pads, check the state of the brake discs and replace them with new ones if necessary.If no new guide pins were supplied in a kit with the new brake calipers, use the old pins. - Step 11Detach the brake pad wear sensor wiring harness.Step 12
Clean the area where the brake hose is connected to the caliper, and the guide pins area. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner. - Step 13
Clamp the brake hose off using a brake hose clamp. - Step 14
Unscrew the brake hose from the brake caliper. Use a combination spanner #14. - Step 16
Install and fix the brake hose into a new caliper. - Step 17
Tighten the fastener connecting the brake pipe to the brake caliper. Use a combination spanner #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 15 Nm torque. - Step 18
Remove the brake hose clamp. - Step 19Clean the brake caliper surface.Step 20
Install the brake caliper and fix it. - Step 21Attach the brake pad wear sensor wiring harness.Step 22
Tighten the brake caliper fasteners. Use a drive socket #12. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 30 Nm torque.
