All the parts you need to replace – Anti Roll Bar Links for A3 Convertible (8P7) and other AUDI models
Replacement: anti roll bar links – AUDI A3 Convertible (8P7). AUTODOC recommends:
Replace the stabiliser links on AUDI A3 Convertible (8P7) in pairs.
The replacement procedure is identical for both stabiliser links on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – AUDI A3 Convertible (8P7). Use the following procedure:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – AUDI A3 Convertible (8P7). Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer bar with the control arm. Use a combination spanner #16. Use XZN #6. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Unscrew the fasteners connecting the stabiliser link to the stabiliser bar. Use a combination spanner #16. Use XZN #6. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Remove the stabilizer rod.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – AUDI A3 Convertible (8P7). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Examine stabiliser bushes. Replace them if needed.
Step 10
Clean the mounting seats of the stabiliser link. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11
Ιnstall the transverse stabilizer link.
Step 12
Tighten the stabiliser link fastener. Use a combination spanner #14. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer bar with the control arm. Use a drive socket #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 45 Nm torque.
Step 14
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 15
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Use a drive socket #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 45 Nm torque.
Step 16
Remove the support from under the arm.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: anti roll bar links – AUDI A3 Convertible (8P7). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 17
Treat all joints of the stabiliser link. Use copper grease.
Step 18
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 19
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – AUDI A3 Convertible (8P7). AUTODOC experts recommend:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 20
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. AUDI A3 Convertible (8P7)
Step 21
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 22
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 23
Remove the jacks and chocks.
