Replacement: ignition coil – VW CADDY II Estate (9K9B). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- The replacement procedure is the same for the ignition coils of all cylinders.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: ignition coil – VW CADDY II Estate (9K9B). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Disconnect the secondary air pump hoses.
- Step 4Cover the secondary air pump channels with a microfibre cloth to prevent dust and dirt from getting inside.
- Step 5Detach the secondary air pump connector.
- Step 6Unscrew the fasteners connecting the secondary air pump to its bracket. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 7Remove the secondary air pump.
- Step 8Unscrew the fastener of the secondary air pump bracket. Use HEX No.H6. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the secondary air pump bracket.
- Step 10Detach the connector from the ignition coil.
- Step 11Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil.Replacement: ignition coil – VW CADDY II Estate (9K9B). Tip:Remember the sequence of the spark plug wires connectors.
- Step 12Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Remove the ignition coil.
- Step 14Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.
- Step 15Treat the spark plug wire connectors. Use electronic spray.
- Step 16Install the new ignition coil to the spark plug well. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.
- Step 17Tighten the ignition coil fastening. Use HEX No.H5. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 7 Nm torque.
