Replacement: wheel bearing – VW TIGUAN ALLSPACE (BW2). AUTODOC recommends:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your VW TIGUAN ALLSPACE (BW2) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – VW TIGUAN ALLSPACE (BW2). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel hub fastener. Use a drive socket #24. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 3Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 4Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 5Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: wheel bearing – VW TIGUAN ALLSPACE (BW2). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 6Remove the wheel.
- Step 7Remove the dust boot caps of the brake caliper guide pins. Use a crowbar.
- Step 8Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use HEX No.H7. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 10Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: wheel bearing – VW TIGUAN ALLSPACE (BW2). AUTODOC experts recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 11Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use Torx T30.
- Step 12Remove the brake disc.
- Step 13Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use a drive socket #24.
- Step 14Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: wheel bearing – VW TIGUAN ALLSPACE (BW2). After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles.
- Step 15Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #16. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 16Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm.
- Step 17Remove the drive shaft from the wheel hub.Replacement: wheel bearing – VW TIGUAN ALLSPACE (BW2). Tip from AUTODOC:Make sure that the steering knuckle is not released from load.
- Step 18Clean the wheel hub fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 19Unscrew the hub bearing mounting. Use XZN #12. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 20Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
- Step 21Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 22Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.
- Step 23Tighten the fastener of the wheel hub bearing. Use XZN #12. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 70 nm torque.Replacement: wheel bearing – VW TIGUAN ALLSPACE (BW2). Tip from AUTODOC experts:The wheel bearing unit must not tilt on the axle pin.
- Step 24Apply some copper grease to the hub where it contacts the brake disk.
- Step 25Clean the splines of the drive shaft CV joint. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
