Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.

Remove the brake disc.

Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use a drive socket #30.
Step 11
Remove the drive shaft.
Step 12
Clean the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush.Use WD-40 spray.
Step 13
Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle.Use a drive socket #19.Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 14
Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
Step 15
Remove the ABS sensor from the steering knuckle.Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 16
Clean the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle.Use a wire brush.Use WD-40 spray.
Step 17
Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle.Use a combination spanner #19.
Step 18
Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle.Use a hammer.Use a crowbar.
Step 19
Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle.Use a wire brush.Use WD-40 spray.
Step 20
Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle.Use a combination spanner #18.Use a drive socket #18.Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 21
Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut.Use a hammer.
Step 22
Remove the steering knuckle together with the hub.
Step 23
Press the wheel hub out from the tapered roller bearing.Use a bush and bearing driver set.Use a hammer.
Step 24
Remove the retaining ring.Use circlip pliers.
Step 25
Press out the wheel hub bearing.
Step 26
Press the new bearing in the steering knuckle.
Step 27
Install the retaining ring.Use circlip pliers.
Step 28
Press the wheel hub into the bearing inner race.Use a bush and bearing driver set.
Step 29
Install the wheel hub on the steering knuckle.
Step 30
Install the steering knuckle with a hub in assembly.
Step 31
Fix the shock absorber strut on the steering knuckle.Use a hammer.
Step 32
Tighten the lower fastening of the shock absorber.Use a combination spanner #18.Use a drive socket #18.Use a torque wrench.Tighten it to 60 Nm torque.+90°

Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 33
Install the drive shaft into the wheel hub.
Step 34
Connect the lower arm to the steering knuckle.Use a crowbar.
Step 35
Tighten the ball joint fastener. Use a combination spanner #19.Use a torque wrench.Tighten it to 45 nm torque.
Step 36
Tighten the hub.Use a drive socket #30.Use a torque wrench.Tighten it to 175 nm torque.
Step 37
Install the ABS sensor on the steering knuckle and secure it.
Step 38
Connect the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
Step 39
Tighten the fastening nut connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #19.Use a torque wrench.Tighten it to 45 nm torque.
Step 40
Install the brake disc.

Install the brake caliper and fix it.
Step 41.2
Use HEX No.H7.Use a torque wrench.Tighten it to 30 Nm torque.
Step 42
Install the dust boot caps of the brake caliper guide pins.
Step 43
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 44
Clean the brake disk surface.Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: wheel bearing – VW Golf 4. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 45
Install the wheel.
Replacement: wheel bearing – VW Golf 4. Tip from AUTODOC:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 46
Screw in the wheel bolts.Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 47
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts.Use a torque wrench.Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 48
Remove the jacks and chocks.
