Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL ZAFIRA Mk II (B) (M75). Tip:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your VAUXHALL ZAFIRA Mk II (B) (M75) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – VAUXHALL ZAFIRA Mk II (B) (M75).
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Unscrew the fastener connecting the drive shaft to the wheel hub. Use a drive socket #32. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 4Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 5Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL ZAFIRA Mk II (B) (M75). AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 6Remove the wheel.
- Step 7Remove the dust boot caps of the brake caliper guide pins. Use a crowbar.
- Step 8Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use HEX No.H7. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 10Pull aside the brake caliper retaining spring. Use a crowbar.
- Step 11Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL ZAFIRA Mk II (B) (M75). Professionals recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 12Remove the brake pads.
- Step 13Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 15Remove the caliper bracket.
- Step 16Clean the brake disc fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 17Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 18Remove the brake disc.Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL ZAFIRA Mk II (B) (M75). Tip from AUTODOC:If necessary, use a rubber mallet.
- Step 19Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use a drive socket #32.
- Step 20Remove the drive shaft.
- Step 21Clean the fastener that connects the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 22Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 23Remove the fastening bolt. Use a pin punch. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 24Release the fastener that connects the control arm ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 25Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle.
- Step 26Remove the drive shaft.Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL ZAFIRA Mk II (B) (M75). AUTODOC experts recommend:Make sure that the drive shaft is not unloaded (when the car is jacked).
- Step 27Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 28Detach the ABS sensor connector.
- Step 29Unscrew the hub bearing mounting. Use a drive socket #E13. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 30Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
- Step 31Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 32Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.
- Step 33Tighten the fastener of the wheel hub bearing. Use a drive socket #E13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 Nm torque.+45°Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL ZAFIRA Mk II (B) (M75). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.The wheel bearing unit must not tilt on the axle pin.
- Step 34Clean the splines of the drive shaft CV joint. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 35Mount the drive shaft into the wheel hub.
