Replacement: strut mount – Opel Corsa C. AUTODOC recommends:
- All mounts of the front shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the left and right shock struts of the front suspension.
- Be sure to replace all self-locking nuts and bolts during installation.
- Please note: all work on the car – Opel Corsa C – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Opel Corsa C
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 7Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the stabilizer rod.
- Step 9Disconnect the fastener of the ABS sensor cable from the shock absorber strut.
- Step 10Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 11Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 12Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 13Detach the bottom part of the shock strut.
- Step 14Lower the car.Step 15Open the bonnet.
- Step 16Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 17Remove the shock strut mount cap.
- Step 18Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 19Loosen the upper fastener of the shock strut mount. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Opel Corsa C – To avoid injury, hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts.
- Step 20Remove the suspension strut.
- Step 21Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.Replacement: strut mount – Opel Corsa C. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
- Step 22Compress the spring.
- Step 23Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 24Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H6.
- Step 25Remove the top strut mount.Replacement: strut mount – Opel Corsa C. Tip from AUTODOC:Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
- Step 26Install a new strut mount.
- Step 27Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use HEX No.H6. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 55 nm torque.Replacement: strut mount – Opel Corsa C. Professionals recommend:Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.
