Replacement: strut mount – Nissan X Trail T30. Tip from AUTODOC:
All mounts of the front shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the left and right shock struts of the front suspension.
Be sure to replace all self-locking nuts and bolts during installation.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: strut mount – Nissan X Trail T30. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
Step 3
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Replacement: strut mount – Nissan X Trail T30. Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Disconnect the brake hose holder from the shock absorber strut. Use pliers.
Step 7
Disconnect the wiring and the brake hose from the bracket on the shock strut. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 8
Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 9
Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10
Remove the fastening bolts. Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut.
Step 11
Lower the car. Open the hood.
Step 12
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 13
Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 14
Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount. Use a combination spanner #11.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Nissan X Trail T30
Step 15
Remove the suspension strut.
Step 16
Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.
Replacement: strut mount – Nissan X Trail T30. Tip:
Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
Step 17
Compress the spring.
Step 18
Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 19
Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #17.
Step 20
Remove the top strut mount. Use a crowbar.
Replacement: strut mount – Nissan X Trail T30. AUTODOC recommends:
Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
Step 21
Install the upper strut mount and the strut mount bearing.
Step 22
Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 60 Nm torque.
Replacement: strut mount – Nissan X Trail T30. Tip from AUTODOC:
Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.
Step 23
Treat the shock strut rod. Use copper grease.
Step 24
Decompress the spring. Remove the assembled shock strut.
Step 25
Install the shock strut into the wheel arch.
Step 26
Screw the top fastening of the shock strut mount.
AUTODOC recommends:
Nissan X Trail T30 – To avoid injury, hold the suspension strut while screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 27
Tighten the upper fastener of the shock absorber strut mount. Use a combination spanner #11. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.
Step 28
Treat the fasteners of the shock strut mount. Use copper grease.
Step 29
Remove the fender protection cover. Close the hood.
Step 30
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 31
Fix the shock absorber strut on the steering knuckle.
Step 32
Install the fastening bolts. Tighten the lower fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 140 Nm torque.
Step 33
Connect the fastener of the ABS sensor cable to the shock absorber strut.
Step 34
Fasten the brake hose on the strut.
Step 35
Install the brake hose clamp. Use a hammer.
Step 36
Treat the shock strut fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 37
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 38
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – Nissan X Trail T30. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 39
Install the wheel.
Replacement: strut mount – Nissan X Trail T30. Tip from AUTODOC:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 40
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
Step 41
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 108 nm torque.
Step 42
Remove the jacks and chocks.
